This can also be your home base for an excursion to Las Vegas (5 hour drive, 1 hour flight), San Diego (1.5 hour drive) or San Francisco (7 hour drive, 1 hour flight), Yosemite (8 hour drive). I highly recommend the drive north on Hwy 1 through Big Sur – it’s the most beautiful coastline in the world.

We completed our first exchange with partners in London during Christmas Break 2010 and it was very successful. We got to see all the cultural highlights of London and they enjoyed surfing and sampling the California beach lifestyle. Better still we made some new friends! If you are an experienced exchanger this is probably not surprising to you. If you are a first-timer, let me re-assure that it's worth the effort to arrange an exchange. All you need is some patience, good communication, and mutual consideration and the exchange experience will be very rewarding.

We completed our second exchange with partners in New York City during July of 2012 and had another fantastic experience. My daughter worked an internship at Columbia University and our exchange partners got to visit family in Southern California.

We are very focused on finding an exchange during late December / Early January. We are somewhat constrained by our children's school schedule. We will make sure you enjoy your SoCal stay
