We have lived in this part of London for 11 years and 4 years ago we bought this house. We have done all the renovations and decorating ourselves and have finally finished! It is a family home but could comfortably accommodate 3 couples. Original wooden floors and Victorian sash windows, working fireplace with wood in living room, beautiful secluded garden, lovely and quiet neighbours, ample and free parking space (a rarity this central in London), beautiful morning sunshine in the master bedroom.

Hackney is in East London with the City of London to the west and the new Olympic site to the east. Homerton Tube station is a short walk from the house from which access to the West End is quick and easy. There are some lovely cafes, a deli and other shops just a short five minute walk from the house. Located in transport zone 2, the area is central enough to access all the classic London tourist sites but is also on the doorstep of the beautiful Lea Valley for canalside walks with a country feel. Culturally, Hackney is at the heart of the vibrant East end with more artists per square mile than anywhere else in Europe. All the latest trends in London's nightlife are to be found in nearby Hoxton and Dalston. Local cuisine spans Turkish delights in Stoke Newington, through Caribbean flavours to good old fashioned Eel, Pie and Mash; and all three can be found in the wonderful Broadway Market. For the bargain hunter, all the best of London's market life is on offer: Brick Lane bric-a-brac, Spittalfields' fashions, Columbia Road flower market, Broadway Farmers market, and the real heart of multicultural Hackney at Ridley Road Market.

We would like to go away for new year. LAST MINUTE!!! We are open to any destinations. Possible dates are from 28th December 2012 - 4th January 2013. Our house is vacant for christmas if you would like to come earlier.

Because of my work it is difficult to arrange exchanges very far in advance. We are open to last minute offers!
We are open to all destinations but the children don't really want to be on a plane for more than 4 hours!

We usually need to travel during the school holidays, and would also love to arrange some weekend exchanges in Britain.

Emily and Stuart are part of London's theatre community. Emily is a performer, Stuart a Stage Manager. We love our work and love to see all types of art and performance. We keep an allotment further up the Lea Valley and grow almost everything we need by way of vegetables and fruit.
We have two young children, who bring us much happiness and connect us more and more to the community around our home. We love salvaging old and beautiful things; we love a real fire in winter and a good coffee in the garden on a summer morning. We love being part of such a rich cultural mix in Hackney, firmly believing that such integration and the greater mutual understanding it brings can only benefit the wider world.
