Firstfloor apartment (75m2), built in 1947 near one of the main stations of Amsterdam. Only 15 minutes to Dam Square!

There are 2 bedrooms one double and one single bed ( 3 pers. max.), a livingroom, a separate kitchen , a bathroom and a study with computer/printer. A balcony at the front and back and the apartment has a private entrance.

Our district is called Amsteldorp and is a part of Oost/Watergraafsmeer/Zeeburg of Amsterdam. Amsteldorp is named after the river Amstel. The district is built just after the second world war and is one of the most peaceful, green and quiet districts of Amsterdam. The buildings in the district are mainly low but directly next to this area you will find the tallest building of Amsterdam, the Rembrandt Tower. From our living room you can see it..
Although the area is quiet a 2-minute walk will bring you to Amstel station and directly in vibrant Amsterdam. The Amstel Station is one of the major stations in Amsterdam and offers all forms of public transport in the city. All metro lines via Amstel Station will stop ten minutes later at Central Station. In addition to the city buses, it is also a station for a number of regional bus lines and a Eurolines station for buses to and from destinations all over Europe. From the station you drive fast and easy to for example Waterloosquaremarket, Jewish Historical Museum, the Zoo, Albert Cuyp market, the Dam or the Rembrandthouse. And a lot of other interesting places in the city. Not far from our house is the only large ice rink of Amsterdam. You will get there easily by bus or bicycle. In this part of the city you can find swimming pools, parks and the last remaining country house called Franckendael. The river Amstel is located within walking distance and a walk or bicycle ride along the river to the city centre is definitely worthwhile. Also in the opposite direction to the rural areas around Amsterdam is a must especially in summertime. . Although there is a sufficient number of (paid) parking is in the neighborhood, we recommend to discover the city by public transport, on foot or by bicycle. We have two bikes that may be used.

Our preferred destinationslist is much longer than the four choices we've made here! Just surprise us. We've seen only a small part of this earth and we love to discover the rest. And a second or third visit to a lovely city as for example Rome would be okay. But a nice cottage somewhere quiet is just as good.

A few years ago we've moved to this apartment and we still love to come home after a busy day in the city.In the two minutes walk from the station you will experience noisy amsterdam changing into quiet amsterdam.
Recently the kids moved to their own place and now we (Zen and Johan 52 and 50) live here with our 2 cats (Lizzy(20) and Yuna(3) . If you like a swap please realize that the cats stay in the apartment and need to take care of. Ofcourse we would be happy to take care of your pet(s) as well. Things we both like are books, theatre, travelling, archery, art and Zen also likes yoga, biking, cooking, plants, photography.
Kavala in Greece (September 2010) was our first homeexchange and because we really enjoyed the experience we had another exchange two days after we got back in Amsterdam with Rome.
