Roosevelt Island is the ultimate New York experience.It is close enough to all the action (1 stop into the UES) but far enough to get away from it all,yet be able to enjoy it all that New York is so famous for.

Our apartment is a lovely Pied-a-terre 850 sq ft 17th floor two-bedroom apartment with a galley-modern kitchen, living/dining room, bathroom with oak wood flooring. It features a small Juliette balcony with unmatched views of Manhattan East Side skyline and the East River accessible from the Master Bedroom. The views from each room is the reason why we love this apartment. The skyline changes everyday and they are simply magnificent and dazzling. We never tire of our nightly views. Our home is very quite and serves as a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Big City. One year is not enough to explore this wonderful city.

The building is attended by a 24-hour concierge, high rise, exercise room, outdoor pool, sun decks, children's playroom and a laundry/dry cleaning service for your convenience.

All the furniture is new - puchased in Summer 2011.

The Master Bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has a twin size bed. The combined dining/living room area (typical of NY real estate) has a marble table that fits 4 people comfortably. There is a yellow couch and reclining seat as well as a flat screen HD television, DVD player. Wifi is accessible through out the apt.

Our home can comfortably accommodate 3, 4 is a squeeze but is doable.

Referred to as the "Little Apple" of the "Big Apple," Roosevelt Island is a cozy Manhattan Island in the East River across from the United Nations building on its south end and the East 80's on it's north end. The Island is recognized as the quiet oasis that people can relax in and at the same time within minutes from the Upper East Side and the city at large. Still within the NYC borough, this small island is still referred to as part of Manhattan, but residents get the best of both worlds in that you have one of the best cities in the world at your fingertips while being able to relax. This gorgeous urban oasis is just one short train stop to NYC to East 63rd Street,and 3 subway stops to Midtown Manhattan where you will see Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Radio City Hall, Trump Tower and the best shopping there is. One subway ride will take you to Central Park where free concerts are held, and if you are really lucky, you'll nab a famous singer on Fridays, live for Good Morning America (We saw Beyonce last summer). There are many free concerts to be had in the Summer - Bryant Park, on 42nd street, 2 subways stops, you will also get to hear snippets (1 or 2 songs) of live Broadway shows during lunch hour on Thursday. Culture and Arts wise, this city has so many options and at any given day, there will be different 300 events going on a single day. Making a choice will be hard.

Within minutes from the apartment, we have a few restaurants that will deliver (Fuji East Restaurant, Pizzeria, diner and Riverwalk Bar and Grill) as well as a Starbucks. There is also a CVS for your pharmacy needs and Gristedes supermarket across the street from the apartment if you'd like to cook. If your are looking for gourmet food, hop on the Tram for 5-minute scenic ride to Manhattan's Upper East and here, there are plenty of options. Also half a block from the beautiful tram is the famous Serendipity restaurant frequented by movie stars. The subway is a 7-minute walk, the tram an 8-minute walk from the apartment. Driving is another option but not recommended. Our place is a beautiful place to stay while enjoying the Big Apple.
If you like to jog, we have a gorgeous promenade facing the city. Roosevelt Island is a magnificent 4 x 2 mile that is part of the New York City borough.

Towels and bed sheets will be provided in the exchange.

New York is wonderful anytime of the year. Summers can be hot or pleasant, Winters cold or mild, but Spring and Fall are almost always the best time to come.


We are experienced travelers and love the experience afforded using Home Exchange. If only we can do more..

We would generally like to travel during the school vacations - Summer, Christmas/New Years, and Spring. However, we can be easily be enticed to wonderful destinations around the world.

We are looking for an exchange in the greater Los Angeles area, preferably downtown for a 4-5 days in July.

Summer 2013 ----Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Australia as well....Exchange partners already found.

We plan to go to Europe 2014, particularly London is on my daughters wish list for looking at colleges. We're open to other cities in Europe.

We have no problems with Non-simultaneous exchanges.

Carol is a stay-at-home Mom who loves all things that's art related, theater, photography, architecture, classical music etc. Robert consults for a major international bank in New York, holds a Doctoral Degree and is currently developing a wealth software start-up. He also loves to play chess and write. Our daughter Daniella, 15years old, is in High School in a private school in NYC and has won competitions in Ballroom Dancing.
