We have the ideal spot for your Washington, D.C. holiday! Our home is a 1,400 sq.ft. (130 sq.meters) luxury condo in the heart of exciting Clarendon, in Arlington, Virginia. The condo building is just 6 years old, and our unit has 3 bedrooms (one is our office) and 2 full bathrooms. We’re located on the 8th floor facing southeast, which gives us excellent views and wonderful sunshine.

Rooftop terrace
Why is our home so special? You won't see another private rooftop terrace like ours. It's huge -- 380 sq.ft. (35 sq. meters) -- and we furnished it with beautiful, high-end outdoor furniture, including a semi-circular sofa, two chaises, and a comfy bistro set. With two umbrellas and the amazing view, this terrace turns our unit into a spectacular resort setting. From our terrace, you have views of the Washington Monument, the Capitol building, the National Cathedral, and the Air Force Memorial. You can even grill burgers or steaks on our electric BBQ grill.

Décor
Our home is furnished with memories from our travels around the world. A giant carved wooden mask from Papua New Guinea is next to a thanka from Nepal. Our decor is comfortable and warm. We have a big (55") flat-screen HD-TV in the living room, as well as an effective, whisper-quiet ceiling fan (fully adjustable).

Our unit is beautifully appointed, with granite countertops and tile floors in kitchen and bathrooms. Bedrooms have Berber carpeting, and the main living/dining room features hardwood floors.

Master bedroom
The master bedroom has a large, ensuite full bathroom and a walk-in closet. It is furnished with a king-sized bed and a 36" flat screen HD-TV. A fully adjustable, whisper-quiet fan is mounted on the ceiling.

The master bedroom & bath are separated from the second bedroom and bathroom by the living room, which gives both parties some welcome privacy.

Second bedroom
The second bedroom has an extremely comfortable fold-down sofa -- it isn't a traditional sofa bed, with the thin, folding mattress. No, this one is a full double-sized bed that is very comfortable. This bedroom features beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and has its own private balcony and a smaller TV.

Kitchen
We have a beautiful, full-sized kitchen that is open to the living/dining room, so you’re always in the middle of the action. The kitchen also has a “bar” for coffee or casual meal.

Our building
We live in a beautiful building – it really looks and feels like a hotel! The ground floor features a Business Center, with an enormous flat-screen TV, wifi, fax machine, and an exchange library (leave a book, take a book).

Our building has a front desk that is staffed 24/7, with very helpful staff. It is a secure building, and our neighborhood is extremely safe. There's even an ATM in the main lobby.

You also have use of the building's fitness center, which includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, bicycles, weight machines and free weights. We also have a beautiful swimming pool -- and hot tub/Jacuzzi -- on the roof just one floor above our unit, that overlooks Washington.

You can access our unit via any of the four elevators.

Additional notes
We also have full-sized washer/dryer in our unit -- very convenient for your laundry needs. We have an excellent wifi network for your use. Also, we have an internet-based telephone system, so you can make calls within the continental U.S. free of charge.

And if you’re interested, we can discuss use of our two bicycles. And of course, the condo features central heating and air-conditioning.

We are literally steps from everything you could need. We are in the heart of Clarendon, which is one of the region's hottest destinations. We have literally dozens and dozens of fantastic restaurants within walking distance ... some right across the street. Restaurants range from casual (and modestly priced) to the trendy to the fancier eateries. We have burger joints, pizza places, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Moroccan, Italian, Mediterranean, wine bars, cupcake stores, Latino, etc., etc., etc. You name it, we probably have it.

In addition to restaurants, nearby are bars, live entertainment (music), post office, pharmacy, movie theatre, farmers' market. Literally within walking distance.

Whole Foods (a high-end, popular organic grocery) is 3 blocks away. Trader Joe's (another great grocery store) is just next block! We have a dry cleaner's right across the street. Doctors' and dentists' offices are nearby as movie theaters (walking distance). We are truly in the heart of everything.

Clarendon Metrorail station is 2 blocks away. This makes Washington, DC very accessible. We are closer to Capitol Hill than many locations in Washington! We are just 3 stops away from the Kennedy Center and Georgetown. It's possible to walk or bike to Georgetown as well. Bus service is also excellent. We also have car-sharing available nearby (Zipcar), which allows you to rent a car by the hour for convenience. Capital Bikeshares, a bicycle-sharing business is just steps away.

Speaking of the Kennedy Center ... every night, it offers a free performance at 6pm on the Millennium Stage.

Arlington also has joined with Washington, DC to build a bike-sharing system, Capital Bikeshare (fondly, "CaBi"). A CaBi bike station is nearby. We are also not far from Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, one of the region's most popular shopping malls, which you can get to by transit.

Arlington is literally across the river from Washington, D.C., so if you're interested in boating, we have a vibrant boating community, including both sailboats and power boats. You can also take a day cruise on the Potomac, visiting, for example, Mount Vernon, George Washington's home.

If you're a fan of our city's famous cherry blossoms, they are very nearby ... either a bike ride, or a short Metro trip. They really are spectacular.

We are very close to National Airport, which you can easily access by Metrorail. From National Airport, you're only an hour away from New York City.

Our cat Hobie lives here, so if you have cat allergies, please be aware of this. We can make other arrangements, but if you would like to have Hobie's warm, friendly company, that would be an option. We do have a few plants that we'd like watered (very easy).

Due to circumstances, we cannot consider exchanges until after Jan 1, 2014.

Generally speaking, we like to plan about a year ahead, though we have some flexibility. We generally prefer a trip of about 2-3 weeks in duration.

We're open to considering any destination, though we are particularly keen on places where we can scuba dive, or ski (downhill), or visit historic sites. We'd also be open to exchanging for your 40'+ sailboat.

We have been married 27 years! Robert is a retired airline pilot who has a zest for adventure. He was recently featured in Men's Journal magazine in a story about our scuba diving adventures on Cocos Island ... where we dove with sharks. Diana is a public relations specialist who's always got a project going ... knitting, crocheting, beading, sewing. We are extremely responsible (Diana has held a Top-Secret Clearance) and will take good care of your place ... as if it were our own.

We both love to ski, especially in Europe, where we love the huge Alpine slopes and the delicious food. We took up scuba diving about 3 years ago and we just love it -- we've already earned our Advanced Certifications.

Travel is our passion and we particularly enjoy visiting less-traveled destinations. Last year, we sailed our own bareboat 40' sailboat around the Greek (Cyclades) Islands for 2 weeks. You can visit our website, www.solymossy.com, to see photos and videos of our adventures.
