Lovely 1,000 square foot ocean view 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. The master bedroom, with its garden patio, has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom/office has a king-size bed. The kitchen was updated several years ago with new appliances (including a Miele dishwasher) and has natural light and morning sun from its tiled patio. There is a flat screen TV in the living room and each bedroom and wireless internet throughout the house. The living room includes a gas fireplace and views of Monterey Bay. A washer/dryer (Miele) is available in our attached 2-car garage. Our home is tastefully furnished and includes many items that we treasure from our travels. We would respect and care for your home as if it were ours.

Come discover the history of Monterey as well as its natural beauty. Once the Spanish capital of old California, Monterey's architectural heritage is well represented in its many beautiful adobes and gardens scattered around downtown Monterey.

We are 2 1/2 miles from downtown Monterey and Fisherman's Wharf. Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach with its beautiful 17-mile drive and world famous Pebble Beach golf course, and many other well-known golf courses are less than a 10-minute drive from our home. A large grocery store is only a few blocks away, the major shopping complex for Monterey is approximately 4 miles away. Less than 1 1/2 miles from our home is Del Monte beach with a wonderful bike/walking trail overlooking all of Monterey Bay (we have two great bikes available), and within a block of our home there are four nice tennis courts.

Carmel attracts artists, photographers, writers, and art enthusiasts to its inspiring natural beauty, culture, art galleries, and performing arts theaters, and is home of the renowned Bach Festival, a 15-day world class celebration of music. We are surrounded by bike and walking trails, and Monterey Bay with its excellent scuba diving, whale watching, ocean kayaking, surfing, tide pools, miles of open beaches, and the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Point Lobos, a 15-minute drive from our home has been called the greatest meeting of land and sea in the world, and is considered the crown jewel of the California state park system. Point Lobos has wonderful diving, great hiking, perfect picnic spots, and views and wildlife well-suited for painting or photography. We have an annual State Park pass that would be available for your use.

Big Sur is a 45-minute drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, one of the most scenic in the world. The Big Sur area has many trails for hikes in the mountains and redwood canyons. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is ten minutes away and is situated within the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, a must-see for hikers, bicyclists and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk with its famous giant dipper roller coaster and spectacular beachfront setting is less than an hour away. This area is also home to Big Basin Redwoods State Park – California’s oldest state park with over 80 miles of trails and the largest continuous stand of ancient coast redwoods south of San Francisco.

Great restaurants are abundant and close as well as many local wineries.

We are an hour south of San Jose (population 958,789) and 2 hours south of San Francisco.

We love animals and would be willing to take care of your pets during an exchange, but we cannot have pets in our home. Please, non-smokers only. We will treat your home as if it is ours, with special care and respect. A car exchange is also possible.

We are George and Jennifer. George is retired from IBM Corp, and Jennifer now works part-time, having just recently retired from full-time employment at the City of Monterey marina. We’re now enjoying exploring our beautiful area. Between us we have three children and seven grandchildren living in northern California, Oregon and Texas. We like good food, reading, and travel and now with the flexibility of our schedule we are eager to take advantage of home exchanging.
