We love our beachside home & have many happy family times here. We hope anyone who exchanges with us will enjoy it just as much!

Mere steps from pretty Margate Beach with its white sand & safe swimming, we enjoy lovely views of Moreton Bay from most rooms. Ours is a traditional style home with a big eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room with pretty chandeleir & decorative fireplace (not used but lovely to look at!) & a comfortable spacious living room with sea views, squishy leather couches & opening to a terrace for alfresco dining.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms (2 double, 1 single), a walk-in dressing room off the master bedroom, another living area & our recently installed marble bathroom with another pretty chandeleir. This bathroom has separate shower + a roll top "slipper" bath in which to soak. (There is another shower & loo downstairs which is not nearly so glamourous - we call it our "beach shower".)

Super comfy furniture & beds. Frangipani tree in the backyard to snooze under!

Margate, on the Redcliffe Peninsula, is about 40 minutes north of Brisbane. It's a very relaxed "beachy" lifestyle here with good coffee shops/restaurants, friendly neighbours & perfect sub-tropical climate. Summers are balmy & Winters mild. Boardwalk for cycling, jogging or strolling follows the coastline all around.

Sunday markets, whale watching, boating, fishing, skydiving (for the adventurous!) & beautiful protected waters in which to swim. Clean white sand is perfect for little ones to play. We also have a wonderful (& free!) man made lagoon for swimming & family barbeques, etc. which overlooks the Bay.

Being only approx 40 minutes from Brisbane City, also enjoy art galleries, theatre, markets & fab shopping in this beautiful riverside city. Catch the high speed catamaran "City Cat" for a great view of Brisbane.

In the other direction & only about 45 minutes away is the famous Sunshine Coast with its world class surfing beaches, the late Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin's Australia Zoo & the rural hinterland with farming & gorgeous green rolling hills (Maleny, Montville, Mapleton, etc.).

We are approx. 1.5 hours easy drive from the Gold Coast where you will find Seaworld, Dreamworld, Movieworld (LOTS of "Worlds"!) & again, a very pretty hinterland - Mt. Tamborine.

We are looking for a long term swap (or swaps) for JULY & AUGUST 2013 & the last 2 WEEKS OF SEPTEMBER 2013.

Hi! We are John - a recently retired Electronic Technician - & Kathy - a recently retired Estate Agent.

We are "empty nesters" (no kids at home now) & are planning a "Grown Up Gap Year" in 2013 to ease ourselves into retirement. We have a love of travelling (& good coffee) with a particular interest in UK, Italy & France but are open to offers.

We have some wonderful exchanges arranged now for our "Gap Year" BUT ARE STILL LOOKING TO FILL JULY & AUGUST 2013 & also THE LAST 2 WEEKS OF SEPTEMBER 2013. We have family & friends close by who will meet & greet all our exchange partners as they arrive & be on hand to help if needed.
