Close to the polo fields and a short walk from Palermo's famous parks, Las Cañitas is a relaxing place to stay with convenient access to wider Buenos Aires. At night, the crowd is young and professional, and you do not feel that you are in a throng of Buenos Aires’ tourist traps. For those who like to mingle with the high-society, a visit in November or December will place you right in the middle of the Argentina Open Polo Championship where national celebrities and polo athletes socialize until dawn. This is a beautiful apartment ideally located in the heart of Las Cañitas district, just beside many attractions such as pubs, restaurants, malls and cinemas. This loft apartment boasts upscale furnishings and finishes, the lower level has a large sectional sofa in the living room (non-convertible but large enough for one person to sleep on), lovely dining area, full kitchen and a half bathroom, and a lovely balcony facing the peaceful courtyard. The upper level has a bedroom with a king-size bed with a top quality mattress, and full bathroom. The apartment is equipped with Wi-Fi internet access, cable TV, DVD, air conditioning in bedroom and living room. Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishes, kitchenware, linens and towels. The building has a swimming pool on the rooftop terrace and shared coin-operated washer and dryer machines for the building at the top level. There is a gym across the street that offers temporary memberships, a drop-off laundry service around the corner, and a coffee shop across the street. There is also a shopping mall a few blocks away. Taxis are easily accessible, inexpensive and regularly pass in front of the apartment building main entrance.

Since the early 90’s, Las Cañitas has been considered a fashionable gastronomic zone that is to this day satisfying the increasing number of tourists, as well as local visitors, palate and appetites.

At present, Las Cañitas possesses more restaurants than any other ‘’barrio” in Buenos Aires. These restaurants, bars, lounges, most of them offering open air seating, afford an infinite variety of choice, each delivering excellent quality backed by good old Latin American quality!

During your stroll in Las Cañitas you will find huge exclusive boutiques, leather goods, health and beauty spas, wine and liquors galleries and antique stores. There is also a shopping centre: “El solar de la Abadía”.

The Porteños like to relax and spend the most of their leisure time outside. Buenos Aires pleasant temperatures enable its people to enjoy a healthy outdoor lifestyle.

By the beginning of the twentieth century, the Polo field, a military training campus was created in Las Cañitas. Polo season runs March through May and September through December. This sport is beautiful and specially followed by all enthusiasts. Las Cañitas becomes a meeting point for local celebrities and polo stars from November to December due to the Argentine Open Polo Championship, the most important polo tournament of the world. This beautiful game mirrors the Porteños love of all Equestrian Sports and is a highly enjoyable pastime.

My husband and I live in Washington DC with our 4 children. My family is Argentine and lives in Buenos Aires, so we maintain this apartment as a place to stay when we visit 2-3 times a year. It is centrally located in a great spot, residential and not at all tourist-y. Las Canitas is still considered "downtown" greater Buenos Aires. You will blend in with the locals as the trendy restaurants are all within 3-4 blocks of this apartment. My parents live in Barrio Norte (Retiro neighborhood) which is just 10 minutes by cab. We are 15-20 minutes away from any of the downtown attractions, including Teatro Colon, San Telmo, and the Casa Rosada. We are 5 minutes away from Palermo Sojo.
