Nuestra casa
We designed and built this second him in 2000. It features a modern design but Northwest materials. Six burner gas range, stainless appliances, cedar walls throughout. The great room has a high ceiling and is open to the kitchen. The house looks south across a 20 mile strait, and has a private beach accessible by stairs. It is built next to property originally reserved for a lighthouse, but later protected as a park. Inspired by the lighthouse, the architect included a tower bedroom with 360 degree views at treetop level. There is a second bedroom with a queen bed, and a master suite adjoining a bunk room that sleeps four kids.
It is 3 miles to the small general store, and 6 miles to the small town. This is a retreat, not a city residence. Lopez Island is known for artists, organic locally produced vegetables and meats, and a slower pace of life.

Giant douglas fir trees, twisted by hundreds of years of wind, surround the house. It is an inspiring place.

For Poipu we are looking for the week of Spring Break in April. Exchange does not have to be simultaneous.

My wife and I have three kids, all under the age of 15. They play violin, guitar and piano, read voraciously, and have level heads (so far). I work in software. My wife is an architect. Our work gives us flexibility in where we live. We are seeking a long term exchange for June, July and August 2013. Depending on the circumstances we might consider an exchange of both of our houses in the Northwest: a four bedroom house in Seattle (remodeled in 2012) and the Lopez Island house. The Lopez Island house can be available any time. A trade of the Seattle house would need to be simultaneous.
