The house is tastefully and comfortably furnished,with full central heating, 4 double bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms and is an ideal base for a family holiday.The kitchen is large and well equiped including a Raeburn and a Panasonic oven and a large kitchen table!There is a logburner in the lounge/drawing room for those who enjoy a cosy evening watching telly. For those who fancy a drink before dinner, the Carew Arms pub is just seven minutes' walk away. Our patio faces south-west and is the perfect place to chill out and soak up the panoramic views--or, if the weather is cool our conservatory is ideal..We live here, and are proud to be part of this unique community in the West of England. You will bump into our friends in the village, and perhaps even take in a service at our 14th Century church, just four minutes' walk away. (Don't worry- the bells will remind you!)

Crowcombe is a quaint little village in rural Somerset nestlling between the Quantock hills and Exmoor. Situated twelve miles from the County town of Taunton with its shops, river and Castle Hotel, you could be forgiven for thinking you have stepped out of a time-machine into a village that has remained pretty much unchanged for generations. Life here moves at a slower pace but don't let that fool you! There is a very strong sense of community here with the villagers playing cricket, putting on plays,running the local volunteer shop and post-office,and of course chatting for hours in the local pub. This is a place you may never want to leave! Ideal for country-lovers, bird-watchers, hikers, horse-riders, artists and photographers,while for golfers there are several excellent courses within easy reach.
The village itself dates back hundreds of years and a visit to the local church is a must, with its ancient tombstones and striking medieval architecture. Close-by you can explore the rugged coastline, visit Watchet Harbour with its Marina, and Kilve Beach with its delightful rock pools and amonites which will keep many a small child (and big ones!)happy for hours.The stunning scenery of Exmoor will take your breath away. Take a trip to the top of Dunkery Beacon and you'll be at the highest point where the panoramic views are extraordinary. You can visit any one of dozens of Exmoor villages, where you can lose yourself for hours. Further afield, Watersmeet is well worth a visit and before you leave you must visit the Cathedral town of Exeter,

We have a gardener who comes in once a week and a maid who will clean or change bedding on a Thursday. We will of course pay for this. We have two cars, one a Golf GTI, the other a Pergeot 107. We would be happy to leave one of these for your use.We have delightful neighbours who will point you in the direction of anything you need to know. , Darcy, our little cat will go into a cattery for the duration of the exchange.unless you request it otherwise. For 'steam buffs' the West Somerset Railway is a nostalgic way of travelling the twenty one miles between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead..For those wishing to travel further afield other than by car, there is an excelent main line rail link from Taunton, with high speed trains to London and the West End or down to Devon and Cornwall in the West..

Our son is getting married in Malibu at the end of September, so we're looking for a house swap with someone who'd enjoy spending time in our spectacular English countryside!

Our family has lived in this part of the world for twenty five years. I'm Pippa, I play handbells,and table tennis and am a member of the local W.I. On a Tuesday afternoon I work as a volunteer in the village shop . My husband Barry is an artist specialising in English Landscape. He also has a passion for cars and until recently he ran an E.Type jaguar which we both loved. We moved here to develop his love for the West Country landscape. Since then, the area has been an inspiration to him. Many of his paintings adorn the walls of our house. We have a Maine Coon cat called Darcy who thinks she is related to English royalty and a large famiy who have now flown the nest; but family get-togethers are truly joyous occasions, From the moment you arrive, we hope, you will feel the warmth of a true English family home.
