Nuestra casa

Located right on Monarch Beach in Dana Point, California, this home is ideal for both outdoor recreation and as a base for Los Angeles and San Diego area attractions. Each of the 4 bedrooms has at least a queen size bed and it's own bathroom. Lower floor has one bedroom with it's own patio facing the beach, a game room, exercise room, and sauna. The main floor has two bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room, laundry room, and large deck overlooking the beach. Upper floor has master bedroom with walk-in closets and balcony overlooking beach. There's a small private swimming pool on the side of the house away from the beach.

The home is located in a homeowners association called Niguel Shores. Members of the association and their guests have the use of all facilities within the complex, including a clubhouse, tennis courts, a large swimming pool, and jacuzzi, in addition to direct access to the beach. The city of Dana Point has a beautiful harbor from which one can go on ocean fishing trips, sail, kayak, or even travel to Catalina Island. Dana Point is just south of Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, just north of San Clemente. This part of south Orange County has many excellent restaurants and lots of things to see and do. Close by are theme parks like Disneyland in Orange County and Legoland in northern San Diego County. A little further but easily reached by car are the Los Angeles and San Diego attractions like Universal Studios, Sea World, and a large collection of world-class museums and theaters.

This home was built in 1974 and is currently the vacation home for our extended family, consisting of 2 grandparents, 2 sets of parents, and 4 grandchildren, ranging in ages from 13 to 18. It's not filled with things that can break and is easy to take care of, something essential for a house on the beach with lots of water and sand all around.

Nosotros

Hank is a Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont who has been semi-retired for the past 6 academic years. He was also the intercollegiate tennis coach for over 20 years. Rita is interested in all kinds of fabric design and likes to use her weaving, knitting, and sewing to design her own clothes. We have traveled fairly extensively on sabbatical leaves, including 3 visits to Israel (totaling 2 and 1/2 years) and 2 visits to Australia (totaling 1 year). We have also completed successful home exchanges with families in Australia, France, Ireland, and the Czech Republic. Our grown children Elaine and Jeffrey are married to David and Wendy respectively and we have four grandchildren.
