Nuestra casa
The perfect spot, a nice houseboat, big garden and very close to the city center. It has a good kitchen (bulthaup with gaggenau steam oven), living room with large sliding doors, study-room and 2 bedrooms, bathroom, separate toilet and heated floors. The view, the garden, the tropical freshwater aquarium, the feeling of living on water and the neighborhood make it the perfect place for your stay in Amsterdam. We have a few bikes (with child seats) for adults and children. We have a great sit on kayak and our small motorboat on the side of our houseboat brings you to the center of town within 15 minutes. Or you can take the bike. We swim on nice days in the river; safe and fun.
We have prepared a comprehensive guide to our home, neighborhood and the surrounding area and will leave a few starter items in the fridge for when you arrive. Closets and drawers will be cleaned out so that you can unpack and stay a while.

Nuestro barrio
Close to city center, restaurants, museums, health club, park, everything within 10 minutes. Our houseboat is freestanding which is quite rare in urban Amsterdam. Public transportation is a 5 minute walk, no busy road in front, exactly on the border of the center which gives you the privacy you like, but the benefits of the city! We are both runners and have the perfect nature just behind the boat for nice runs between 5 and 35 km's. The pedal-driven kayak can bring you into town or towards nature, it is all up to you. Swimming in the river is safe and fun.
We don't have any fishing equipment, but we do see people fishing. Golf course (biking distance) and a manage next to a beautiful park for those who likes to ride horses (at biking distance as well).

We have an old classic mini cooper with open roof which can be included. No smoking please.
Belgium, Paris, London, Germany, Denmark everything within 2 to 4 hours by car, bus, train or plane. Don't want to travel around, you won't be bored in Amsterdam!
We have two friendly little hoppers in the garden, but they will be with their friends at the neighbors during your stay. Should you like rabbits, they love great petting!
We can arrange to have someone meet you at the train station (10 min from the airport) upon your arrival and bring you to the boat.

We, Ilona and Marco have 2 sweet young daughters, Zamaya (born feb 2003) and Anaiza (born feb 2005). Before the girls were born we traveled for 21 months throughout the world. Now with the girls we continue traveling. Have been with them to Thailand (4,5 months), Mexico (2,5 months), Bali (3 months), Australia (3 months) and thanks to Europa's compactability had loads of shorter holidays as well. Lots of home-exchanges!! We just returned from a 3 months trip to to Costa Rica (feb-apr 2012). We love being together and showing them all the beautiful places around the world. They are 2 easily adjusting, well traveled sweeties. Just being together with the family for longer periods of time is high on our list!
Marco worked as a financial controller before he stopped working when the oldest was born. He worked as a volunteering guide in the Amsterdam Zoo and is currently studying naturopathy. Ilona works as an air traffic controller at Schiphol airport. We are very flexible. Due to my work we can fly easy, cheap and often.
We did 24 exchanges so far, hope many will follow!!
