You will feel alone in the wilderness when you come up the long circular driveway to our mountainous retreat in the Highlands.

Open floor plan, high vaulted ceilings, large rooms and lots of views, over 2,800 square feet in total. The main ground level (1800 square feet) has a level entry from the 1200 square foot garage and workshop. On the main floor is a formal dining room, a large kitchen/eating area open to the main living room area (big screen tv over the wood fireplace) with views out to Victoria. From here you can walk out to the deck and bbq area.

The house is set back from the dead end street - very private and woodsy. Master bedroom is large with a full ensuite and large walk in closet. A separate small office area serves as a computer room. WIFI throughout the house.

Downstairs is a large recreation room with another tv viewing area as well as a separate large guest room with it's own full bathroom. Plenty of room to relax and lots of decks to enjoy on sunny days with the outdoor barbeque. Situated on 3 acres and surrounded by forest.

We are meticulous housekeepers and we are confident you will find our house spotless and clean.

Our past exchangers tell us they had an excellent time enjoying the area as well as our home.

As you can see from the photos, the best time to visit Victoria and Vancouver Island is the summer from May through September.

Our neighborhood is called the Highlands and consists of 3+ acre estate properties. While it gives you a rural sense, we are only 6 minutes away from some of the major shopping such as Costco, Home Depot etc. And about 25-35 minutes to Downtown Victoria.

Within walking distance are several massive parks with hiking, biking etc available for the outdoor enthusiast. Much of the parkland borders on ocean front. The views are breathtaking.

All the major tourist activities are an easy short drive including, museums, whale watching, fishing for halibut & salmon, shopping etc. There's no shortage of things to do in the area - and you will want to take in the world famous Butchart Gardens while you're here. Golfers would enjoy the many opportunities that exist almost all year long - the new Bear Mountain Golf/Resort is within 10 minutes of our home.

Mount Washington Ski Resort ( a fabulous facility) is 3 1/2 hours away by car. Vancouver/Lower Mainland is a 90 minute ferry ride.

But no matter what you decide to do for the day you will be anxious to come home and relax at your home in the Highlands!

We are serviced by Victoria International Airport 45 minutes by car. BC Ferries (the worlds largest non military fleet of ships) has a major terminal 50 minutes from our place. Ferries make visits to the remoter islands quite easy day trips from here.

We are a short distance (20 minutes by air or 90 minutes by ferry) from Vancouver, hence, international travel is easy.

Please note that while we have indicated children "OK", our home is not child proof. So exchangers with younger children would not work very well. The ideal exchange would be 1 or 2 couples as there are two bedrooms in our home as described earlier.

Victoria and Vancouver Island is one of the top North American tourist destinations. Our location makes an excellent base camp for exploring and enjoying all of the wonderful experiences this area has to offer.

I'm an avid sport fisherman and spend a great deal of time on our west coast waters from April through September. So I enjoy inviting non concurrent exchangers to join me for a day on the water during their visits.

Schedules permitting we are available year round.

Non simultaneous exchange to Palm Springs area, Hawaii, and any warm climate for some time in the winter months of November through February.

Quebec City area for a short time in the summer during June or July (2013 and beyond).

We couldn't possibly list all the places we might like to see and enjoy! We have not travelled extensively outside of Canada and the USA so we are really open to suggestions.

We particularly enjoy nice surroundings such as we have to offer.

Exchanges do not need to be concurrent from our perspective. Non concurrent exchanges are possible as we have a fifth wheel trailer that we often vacation in during the summer months.

We would enjoy a visit to a warmer climate during the winter months (November through February) and make our home available during the summer months.

We have family in Quebec City so summer exchanges of shorter duration would be of interest. Could also be non concurrent.

A visit to Alaska would also be of interest.

But we are also open to any and all interesting destinations virtually anywhere, including unusual off the beaten path locations.

I (George) am a retired professional. My wife works part time in the Accounting field. We are both in our early 60's. Our kids have left home a long time ago and we have three grandchildren.

We have lived on Vancouver Island for 30 years and have lots of local knowledge to share with exchangers to ensure they get the most out of their visit to our wonderful area.
