We're located in AMAZING ALBANY (www.amazingalbany.com) on the south coast of Western Australia - overlooking one of the most picturesque bays, Middleton Beach. Approx. 30,000 population.

We have direct flights several times a day from Perth, WA's capital city (one hour away flying) or buses - 400km from Perth or Margaret River.

Our home was recently renovated. Polished Jarrah floorboards are a feaure along with a deck overlooking the ocean. The house is north facing which brings in bright sun shine in winter. Its quite a warm house as a result. But we also have reverse cycle heating / airconditioning.

The windows along the North all have increadible views. There is truely nothing quite like a lazing Sunday sleep in looking out over the bay - and spotting a whale breaching in the bay!

There are 3 bedrooms (one has a queen bed - the other two are singles) plus another room downstairs with a double sofa-bed. We mostly use the downstairs room as a "kids retreat'

Kids will be well entertained - The back yard is large and has a cubby house, sand pit and kids vegi garden for kids as well as a trampoline which dug into the ground so that there are no accidents. We have 4 x bikes (2 & 2) one with a babyseat on it. Also, there are great play grounds nearby.
TV / DVD, games, activities room, trampoline, books, books, books....

It is a leisurely 5 min walk down Mt Clarence (the hill that we are located on) to the swimming beach and coffee shops. Also, a world class golf club further along the beach - it is popular with Perth golfers whop come to Albany jsut to play on the course!

Our home is perched on Mt Clarence and above us is a nature reserve - perfect for bushwalking and wildflowers - right on our door step!

15-20 min walk into the City centre for the CBD where the fresh food markets are on each weekend...

Albany has often been likened to the Bay of Isles in New Zealand for the stunning outlook of islands / coastline... rugged granite cliffs and secluded peaceful swimming beaches - also good beaches for surfing or fishing. Sheltered from the wind and swell are many bays, tranquil and glassy.

Our home has exceptional views across Middleton Bay - keep your eyes out for whales! Middleton Beach is very much a village within Albany itself - everone knows everyone! They will welcome you with open arms. Always someone on the boardwalk looking for chat about the weather, best fishing spots or how many whales they have seen on their walk around the boardwalk!!!

In Winter, we are a known tourist destination for whale-watching from the beach - Humpback and Southern Right whales use our sheltered waters as a nursery. From late May until October visiting Humpback and Southern Right Whales migrate north spend time playing in King George Sound, close to the coastline.

Wildflowers are one of the best kept secrets of the region. Of the 10,000 plant species, which naturally occur in Western Australia, over half are found throughout the south-west and are easily discovered on walking trails, or when meandering around the region. Although there is always something in flower, the main wildflower season extends from August until December, with the peak flowering period usually between September and November.

We're about 400km from Perth and also from Margaret River.

The southern coast is rugged and stunning in winter with swell from the southern ocean breaking over granite and roaring onto open beaches.

Position yourself in front of a log fire for a hearty meal in one of Albany’s quality restaurants, pubs or cafes. Enjoy the exhibitions showing in local galleries - there is a thriving arts community in Albany.

Discover the significant military history of the port at heritage sites in and around the city. Albany is WA's oldest town and also the port from which our brave ANZAC soldeirs departed for battle.

The weekend Farmers Markets are a HUGE community events and are your opportunity to meet the grower/farmer and get the freshest of fresh produce!

Surrounding Albany are many National Parks including Stirling range national park, Two People Bay Natioanl park (home of the endanged Noisy Scrub Bird & the Gilbers Poteroo - a tiny mammal)

There is so much to tell you about all the attractions of Albany!!

We were very lucky to have Five home exchanges in July to October 2009 in Europe.

So we're now looking for somewhere in Cape Town for sometime in 2013

BUT we're happy to consider other exchanges prior to this too!

We are a family of 4... Isobel turned seven in February 2009 and Tom was 5 in June. My husband, Dave, works for the State Government in Forestry.

I work part-time in the tourism industry so can provide HEAPS of tips for your time in WA. We are passionate about our piece of paradise and would make sure you didn't miss anything while you were here!

We are lovers of good food and wine - which is lucky as this region is famous for both with local weekend food markets and several vineyards.

We are also lovers of the outdoors and spend much of our time in surrounding national parks & beautiful turquoise beaches with squeaky white sand of which we are spoilt for choice. We also like bike riding and hiking.

We have had such fabulous experiences using this website.
