Nuestra casa
A single story home built in the island plantation style in 1977. There are two bedrooms and an office, TV/movie room with a high-definition projector. The kitchen is completely stocked with all kinds of gadgets including a good espresso coffee maker. The home has a casual comfortable atmosphere. The carport makes a great space for outdoor dining, reading and hanging in the hammock. There are several fruit trees in the yard including lime, tangelo, tangerine, and avocado, as well as banana plants which ripen year round. There is an outdoor shower in the strawberry guava tree with warm and/or cold water.

Nuestro barrio
The home is located on the north shore of Kaua‘i in Kilauea, in a small neighborhood. A short bike ride away is the quaint town with small family owned grocery stores, restaurants, and shops. The atmosphere is friendly with a mixture of cultures. There are numerous beaches within a few minutes’ drive or a 15 minute bike ride. Kilauea is the most northern part of the inhabited Hawaiian islands and is home to the Kilauea Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge. Kilauea is a farming community, so there is a wonderful selection of fresh produce grown on island.
There is so much to see and do on Kauai. Watch the movie "Six Days/Seven Nights" or "Tropic Thunder" for an idea of what the island looks like (SJ and Tony actually worked on these movies, shooting behind-the-scenes footage). From Hanalei Bay to Waimea Canyon there is one incredible vista after another.

Vehicles can be included. Preferably non-smokers, though smoking outside is okay.
We have one friendly dog that needs to be fed and loved on. She is an ex-hunting dog who we rescued, she is super sweet and funny.
We have a two-person ocean kayak, stand-up paddle board, boogie boards and 2 bicycles for your use.
And when you just want to hang out, we have a great little high-definition movie theatre in the converted garage.

Our home is available for two weeks in March 2013 (as we visit another part of the world and stay in a home as the completion of an exchange we already made).
Make us an offer to visit your home sometime in the future (not in March 2013 but later on). We're looking for people who can do a non-simultaneous exchange.

We're open to exploring new places.
One dream location we'd love to visit is Brittany in the northwest of France.
We're also interested in seeing the Fall leaves in the northeastern part of the United States and/or Canada.

Tony is a musician who studied at Berklee School of Music. He and his wife SJ have had a video production company and have worked together for over 20 years. SJ’s background is physical education and German Literature. She's been the producer end of the business but is now having fun doing improv comedy and writing. She recently spent time in France learning French. Both love to read, watch movies, hike, sail, ski, bike and play in the ocean.
